Compatibility and System Requirements for GorillaCam
For a list of system requirements and what GorillaCam is currently compatible with, visit our compatibility page.
Is it Compatible with After Effects AEC Files or Cineware?
Yes, as long as you bake out your GorillaCam using our one-click-bake button, you'll be just fine.
Will It Work In Render Farms?
If you encounter a cloud farm that does not have GorillaCam installed, simply choose one of the two baking options and delete the GorillaCam tag before you upload to your render farm.
In other words:
Click the "Quick Bake" button on the GorillaCam to convert all of the aspects of GorillaCams animations into keyframes. Your scene is now ready for render farms! Now if the farm doesn't have GorillaCam, it might throw out an error saying "GorillaCam plugin missing" but it will still render just fine. To avoid the message, delete the GorillaCam tag after baking.
Be sure to check out the "Baking" video on the training page.
Why Am I Having Issues with Team Render?
If you have the newest version of GorillaCam installed on all of the Team Render machines, then renders should automatically work. If you don't have GorillaCam on all the machines, or anything else seems odd, then click the "Quick Bake" button on the GorillaCam to convert all of the aspects of GorillaCam's animations into keyframes. Your scene is now ready for Team Render and render farms!
Be sure to check out the "Baking" video on the training page.
Why Am I Having An Issue with Motion Blur?
GorillaCam is dependent on the previous frame to calculate its current version. In order to calculate the needed subframes, GorillaCam needs to be baked. Click the "Quick Bake" button to convert all of the aspects of GorillaCams animations into keyframes. Your scene is now ready for motion blur, team render, and render farms!
Be sure to check out the "Baking" video on the training page.
Can I Animate My GorillaCam?
GorillaCam needs a camera to reference. If you launch the plugin without a camera selected, GorillaCam will ask you if you'd like to create a reference camera. All of the motion animations of your camera needs to happen on your reference camera. Think of GorillaCam as a filter on top of your original camera. If your original camera is animated, then GorillaCam will be as well. If your reference camera is motionless, then GorillaCam will be motionless (until you put some sweet shake on there at least).
Where Are the GorillaCam User Presets?
As a part of our move to Plus, we have cleaned up our plugin data so that it is all contained inside a new Greyscalegorilla folder. Because of this, you will need to move your current presets into this folder and rename it so that the new Plus plugins can find them. If you have exported any User presets from GorillaCam, then you will need to move these for the new plugins to find them.
- Start Cinema 4D
- Open the preferences dialog from Edit —> Preferences
- At the bottom left of the dialog, press the "Open Preferences Folder" button. A window will open to the location of the C4D preferences folder, and this is a folder that plugins are able to write to
- Go into the "plugins" folder
- Inside this folder will be a folder labeled "GorillaCam", check that this is indeed the right one by looking inside it to see that it contains "Exports" and "User" folders. If it does, then you have found the right one
- Rename this folder from "GorillaCam" to "GorillaCam User"
- Move this newly renamed "GorillaCam User" folder into the "Greyscalegorilla" folder
You are now done and your GorillaCam presets can now be used!
