How to Install Plus Plugins for Command Line Rendering

The plugins run without any licensing requirements for Command Line Rendering, as well as with Team Render. However, we require that networks with five or more render clients have an Annual Subscription. This means that Monthly Subscriptions may use up to five render nodes at once.

Video Guide:

Step by Step Instructions:

  • Install the plugins through the Plus HUB on the interface version of Cinema 4D

  • Go to Edit —> Preferences and select "Open Preferences Folder..."
  • In the preferences folder, navigate to the plugins folder. You should see the HUB plugin folder corresponding to your version of C4D and the "Greyscalegorilla" folder (generated by the HUB) which contains the plugins

  • If you do not see both folders here, you may have installed the HUB in the wrong location. Close C4D and correct the folder location as described below:
    • From this location, copy both folders and move it up two folders to the MAXON folder

    • In the MAXON folder, you will see a preferences folder corresponding to the version you'll be using but with a "_x" at the end of it. This is the preferences folder for the Command Line version of C4D

    • Navigate to the plugin folder inside this folder, and copy both the Greyscalegorilla and HUB plugin folders there

You should be set! When you start the Command Line version of Cinema 4D, you should see that the plugins are loaded and licensed.

How To Set Texture Paths for Command Line Rendering

Video Guide:

Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Open the interface version of C4D, and make sure the texture path is set properly in your preferences
  2. In the preferences window, click the "Preferences Folder..." button, and copy the folder labeled "prefs"
  3. Move up one folder to the MAXON folder, and navigate to the preferences folder of the version of C4D you're using with the "_x" at the end
  4. Paste the "prefs" folder, and overwrite the folder if it already exists here

Important Note: Although this may seem like a peculiar process, this is Maxon's official method for setting texture paths for command line rendering. This workflow is not specifically tied to how Greyscalegorilla products work.
