How to change Material size in Blender
This guide is applicable for both Windows and macOS, depending on what version of Blender and OS you have, your UI may be different, but the process is the same to change the texture maps tiling size.
- Launch Greyscalegorilla Studio and download any material you would like to use.
- After the download is complete, click the Send button to import it into Blender.
- Go to the Outliner select your object in your scene and then select the imported material from Blender material panel to assign it.
- Select Cycles as render engine and enable Viewport Shading: Rendered mode to see the material.
Note: Greyscalegorilla Plus materials come with the Texture Coordinate and Mapping nodes ready to use by default. (Make sure you have installed the latest versions of Studio and the Blender Connector.)
- Go to Shader Editor and switch to Object Shader and adjust Scale values on the Mapping node to change the size of the material.
- Entering smaller values increases the tiling size, while larger values decrease it.
Adding the Nodes manually: If you are working with a Blender material that doesn't have the "Texture Coordinate" and "Mapping" nodes, you can add them using the shortcut Ctrl + T (Command + T on a Mac) while a texture node is selected. This shortcut works only if you have enabled Node Wrangler from Preferences > Add-ons. Alternatively, you can press Spacebar and type the node name to add it.
Connect Texture Coordinate Node > UV port to Mapping Node > Vector port. Make sure the Mapping Type is set to Point. And connect Mapping node > Vector port each texture node Vector port. You can see the details in the screenshot below.
